| Built by the Grineer for their elite troops, the VULKAR is a devastating distance weapon. In the right hands it is capable of taking down targets long before they get into attack range. | ||
–In-Game Description | ||
The Vulkar is a Grineer version of the Snipetron, released in Update 8. Although almost identical in stats to the Snipetron, the Vulkar seems to be more accurate unmodded, and seems to be better for getting headshots or criticals. It has identical reload sounds to the Snipetron, and the firing sound resembles the Ballista's sniper rifle. A close or medium range secondary is recommended to compensate for its bad short range capabilities, as with any sniper rifle.
It is also used by Grineer Ballistas.
Characteristics
Advantages:
- High base damage.
- Incredibly low recoil.
- Good zoom.
- Good anti-grineer weapon when adding armor piercing.
- Very high critical hit chance. (25-35% needs confirmation)
- Easy to craft (doesn't require any difficult to find materials and/or large quantites of them).
Disadvantages:
- Small clip size.
- Does not deal innate armor piercing damage.
- Slow rate of fire.
- Long reload time.
- No polarities.

Tips
- Use a close-mid range sidearm - Bolto, Akbolto, Bronco, Despair, or Kunai are great choices.
- Try to aim for the head or other vulnerable points only.
- Reload as often as possible between fights.
- If you use Magazine Warp, it works exactly the same as for Snipetron - upgrade it only to 15%. (it will only carry a maximum of 5 rounds which is +15% rounded - even with the mod maxed to 30%).
- Max Point Strike and Vital Sense work well with this weapon.
- yellow crits seem to do X2.5 damage, however some times it will jump to x4damage on a non crit, this maybe a mis-colored red crit(needs conformation),
